Assistant Principal

Year 7 & 8

Term four is here and is already in full swing with a number of things happening around the college which has been fantastic to see. Last week was ‘Arts Week’, with each day celebrating and recognizing how the arts enrich our students. We had a screening of the production, as well as a photo booth day, badge making and LSC’s very own version of the voice. It was wonderful to see the students engaging in the lunchtime activities and embracing the celebrations.

Our year seven students participated in their fieldwork excursion, investigating the livability of the local government area. Student examined the features that make suburbs attractive to live. Exploring and comparing Lalor and South Morang, students collected data on their findings of which they will analyse to create a report.

Our annual school Fun Run was scheduled for last week however due to the rain has had to be postponed. The Fun Run see’s our students complete as many one-kilometer laps of the school as they can in the two periods provided to earn points for themselves and their house. This years Fun Run will also include a ‘Colour Run’ section. The Colour Run and School Fun Run, celebrate and recognize diversity and raise money for our sponsor child in Rwanda, Gisele. We plan to have the Fun Run re-scheduled as soon as possible, keep an eye on Compass!

Term four for the junior school means mainly one thing, transition. Lalor Secondary College is looking forward to welcoming its newest group of students this term and plans are already underway. During term four, a key group of staff will be visiting our local primary schools to meet and greet our students and answer any important questions they have. In addition to this there are three important dates coming up this term to be aware of. Our ‘Getting to Know You’ day is held on Tuesday the 25th of October where prospective students will visit the college to undertake of essential testing. Our Pre-Orientation Day will be held on Friday the 9th of December where a small group of students will explore the college and familiarize themselves with it for the first time. And finally, Statewide Transition Day is on Tuesday the 13th of December where we will welcome our entire 2023 year 7 cohort to the school for the first time.
