5C - Classroom Voice

By Aarthy, Gargi , Raavi , Arena and Sachi.

In 5C one of our core drivers is to have student voice in all that we do. In this article, we will be sharing how student voice is used in the classroom, how we can improve the student voice system and how the learning pit guides our goals. We add metacognition and far transfers to go into our learning into a deeper understanding.  As a class we challenge our selves with the learning intention and the structure of our deep learning, we use voice through our thinking and strategies we use in the classroom.

Having your own personalised learning pit is a must especially in 5C. It is critical since every student in 5C can check up on themselves to see how their going and always have supportive self talk on their learning pit. It is also for personal reflection and how to track emotions and learning. 5C also places their goals on it depending on which stage their on with that goal for example if your in turning point with your reading goal you will put it next to the turning point stage and if you have achieved your writing or maths goal you will put it next to eureka!

In 5C, student voice is one of the main focus in any learning, everyone in 5C is a leader. The students make the learning intention and success criteria. Students get a chance to make and design their own session as a reward. When I was in year 2, I was student voice(Junior school council) and something we did to help the student voice system was a suggestion box. To improve the student voice system right now we could try trial something similar! Using the suggestions we could create a agenda which would have students suggestion and how we could improve the classroom into a better environment!

To sum up, in this article we have explored many aspects of student voice in 5C, our spectacular class. The purpose of the learning pit is to lead others through challenges by using goals, far transfers etc. To improve the student voice system in our school we will continue to give Mrs.Singh feedback and feed forward on how we would like to lead our own learning in collaboration with our teacher. This will positively impact us as learners in the future and the goals we choose will be beneficial.
