Parent's Association

Parent’s Association Annual General Meeting President’s Report - 2019

Once again it has been a very productive year for the Parent’s Association (PA) and firstly I would like to formally thank everyone within our School Community who gave their time and resources to participate in our School Community events and projects throughout the year.  The PA is only as good as our community participation.

In particular I would like to thank our leaving parents and wish them and their children well as they start their journey through High School or other schools.

We ran a number of wonderful events this year.  And given our role being more about community engagement than fundraising we were very successful in combining both and raising loads of funds for the school anyway. Thank you to all who donated their time to make our events so successful.

Our events in no particular order are:

Icy Poles at the School Sports Day

A huge thankyou to Kate for making this happen by organising the Icy Poles. Also thankyou to those who helped hand them out.  As with other years it was a very hot day so the students and teachers really appreciated it.  We improved on the previous year by having the children come in their groups to the canteen.  The children were very well mannered and I am proud of them.  They were also conscious of their environment and placed all rubbish in the bin.

Grandparents/Special Person’s Day

Grandparents/Special Person’s Day was another event we held.  This year the school provided the food and our role was to turn up and help serve.

Election Day Cake Stall

In Term One we had the Federal Election. As usual we had a Cake Stall that was very successful. We had so many parents baking cakes and other items. It was a huge success allowing us to raise over $1000 for the school reading programme. Thank you to everyone who worked very hard and gave up their time to help out on the stall.  Also a huge thank you to our amazing families for making all the baked treats.

International Night

This event was very successful in bringing the community together to get to know each other while enjoying some amazing dishes.  It was very well attended and we had lots of feedback on how wonderful the night was.  Thank you to Ruwani for organising the event.

Spoil the Staff

It was so much fun to Spoil the Staff this year.  Lisa, Monique and Catherine did a great job organising the event and decorations. While planning to give the staff a light morning tea followed by a lunch we ended up with the School families supplying so many food items the staff were fed all day! They also had lots of food left over for the next day.  The 5/6 Staff had swimming and Monique set up a table with food and served them lunch at the pool.  What a lovely idea!

School Disco

The School Disco was a massive success this year raising over $4000 ($1400 on glow items and $2700 in ticket sales). Feedback from the children was that it was the best Disco yet and attendance was up on previous years.   Lisa and Janine had great fun organising the event and plan to make it bigger and better in 2020.

Uniform Shop + Saturday Super Sale

This year we held our first ever Saturday Uniform Shop Sale to coincide with the incoming Foundation student’s transition day.  It was a massive success with over $600 in sales.  Deane also coordinated the Uniform Shop for the year and we have had solid sales all year around.

Hot Dog Day

Thank you so much to Kirsten for coordinating Hot Dog Day.  The kids love this event and it was a huge success.

School Banking, Entertainment Book

Thanks to the parents who manage School Banking each and every year.  Also thanks to Kate for managing the Entertainment Book sales.

Fete

The PA contributed to the Fete this year by again running a Cake Stall.  Again it was a huge success with our cakes selling out way before the end of the fete!

End of Year Dessert Night

Our End of Year Dessert Night was a great event (really our first of the new committee at the end of 2018).  It was well attended and we are very much looking forward to our next Dessert Night on the 16th of December.

I just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed my time as the PA President for 2017, 2018 and 2019.  I know how blessed we are having such a wonderful school to support and genuinely wish all the best for our next team in 2020.
