R.E Report

Merry Christmas!

The Gospel according to John (1:1-5, 9-14)

In the beginning was the Word:

and the Word was with God

and the Word was God.

He was with God in the beginning.

Through him all things came to be,

not one thing had its being but through him.

All that came to be had life in him

and that life was the light of men,

a light that shines in the dark,

a light that darkness could not overpower.

The Word was the true light

that enlightens all men;

and he was coming into the world.

He was in the world

that had its being through him,

and the world did not know him.

He came to his own domain

and his own people did not accept him.

But to all who did accept him

he gave power to become children of God,

to all who believe in the name of him

who was born not out of human stock

or urge of the flesh

or will of man

but of God himself.

The Word was made flesh,

he lived among us,

and we saw his glory,

the glory that is his as the only Son of the Father,

full of grace and truth.

Christmas Liturgy

A beautiful Christmas liturgy was held in our chapel.  A huge thank you to our O’Connor community for all of the gifts donated to the Vinnies Christmas Appeal, and a special thank you to the Armidale Bowling Club for donating some extra meal vouchers. Everyone’s generosity is much appreciated and will bring some joy to those less fortunate over Christmas...bless you 🙏❤️

Farewell Father Francis

Father Francis has been an awesome presence at O'Connor over the last two years. He is off to Tamworth next year to share his enthusiasm and love of the Lord with a new congregation. Father Francis will be very much missed by the whole O'Connor Community. His willingness and enthusiasm to celebrate mass on a weekly basis in De La Salle Chapel has seen all of our students much more familiar with the mass and more comfortable responding and singing as part of the congregation. Father Francis' visits to classes has also been a wonderful insight for students into our faith. Father Francis has been the driving force for the Mass with Young People at 5.30pm on Sundays in the Cathedral which has been ver successful. We will miss Father Francis but wish him well in Tamworth.

Farewell Mrs Fittler

Mrs Fittler is retiring from full time teaching. We will still see her around the the College in some capacity so it is not really goodbye yet. Mrs Fittler has been a great teacher for many years at O'Connor teaching many Religious Education classes. She is the senior teacher at school for the HSC course Studies of Religion achieving terrific results over a long period of time. She is knowledgable, organised and students have always been aware that she cares deeply about not only their education but also their well being. Congratulations goes to Mrs Fittler on a wonderful career in education.

Year of the Youth

Mr Frank Patricks spoke to years 7, 8 and 9  about the beautiful cross he made for the Year of the Youth. We are very fortunate that Mr Patricks will be returning to the O’Connor staff in 2019.

As school comes to an end for 2018 we would like to take this opportunity to wish all members of our College community a joyous Christmas and festive season. We hope you get an opportunity to relax and to enjoy some quality time with your family and friends. May the Lord watch over you and your loved ones and keep you safe.

See you in 2019 ready for a new school year full of wonderful learning opportunities!
