Performing Arts

Welcome to the 2019 Performing Arts Program

Whether new to Pius or returning, the Performing Arts staff welcomes everyone to our program. Studies show that learning to play a musical instrument, acting, singing, composing and dancing offer enormous benefits to a child’s brain functioning and health. With this in mind, we encourage all boys to get involved in 2019.

Drama News

The cast of Great Expectations have been working hard in the holidays with extra rehearsals and learning their lines. They have now rehearsed to the end of the play and are starting to have a good idea of the plot and the importance of their character to Pip’s narrative. We were extremely fortunate to work with the dance teacher Liz Collier-Walsh on movement skills and the big dance number that begins the second act. It was an extremely hot day and the students worked very well together, having fun and learning the steps and choreography in a very short space of time.

The first excursion for Years 10-12 will be our annual outing to the Seymour Centre on 14 February to see OnStage. This is a showcase of exemplary HSC performances and projects from 2018 and is a wonderful opportunity for students to see examples of outstanding HSC drama works.
