Melton Careers Expo
On Tuesday, 23 May Year 10 students and Year 12 VCAL students attended the annual Melton Career Expo. The event is organised and sponsored by Melton City Council & this year the Careers Expo was held at Tabcorp Park.
The Year 12 VCAL students participated in the Tertiary Information Session conducted by Victoria University. The presentation allowed the students to gain insight into the benefits of future study to improve employment prospects. Students were also introduced to the VTAC system, which is the on line procedure to apply for TAFE & Further Education.
Both Year 10 and Year 12 students were able to meet industry and tertiary representatives to access information for career planning. We hope that attendance at the Careers Expo is a catalyst for career conversations, both at home and at school. Students in Years 9 - 12 are encouraged to make appointments with the Careers Counsellors to discuss individual pathway plans.
A reminder that Course Counselling for Year 9 & 10 students will take place in Term 3 (Dates to be advised).
Year 11 Structured Workplace learning
During the past 2 weeks Year 11 VCAL teachers have been completing employment site visits to see students on Structured Workplace Learning. Feedback from employers indicate the students have worked well to develop their industry knowledge and skills.
Melton Secondary College would like to thank many of the local employers for their support to host students during the work experience program.
AIE Open Day 2017
During the day AIE’s teachers will be running sessions on each of our course areas and there will be exciting hands-on demonstrations as well. We will be having some Alumni and industry speakers who will be sharing their stories from their time in the industry, hoping to inspire the next generation of film artists and game developers.
