Teaching and Learning

Room 1

On Thursday of week 6 our whole school had so much fun dressing up for the Book Week Parade. We walked past the aged care home and waved to some of the people who lived there. It was a very exciting day for us to see everyone dressed up. There were lots of parents standing on the road to see us. Some of the cars even beeped at as as they drove by.

A big thank you to Denise and our student leaders who did all the organising.

I liked Book Week because I got to have fun with all my friends and have fun reading so many books.

Did you know that the R-2 students experienced our own version of the popular Japanese pass time known as Hanami (Cherry Blossom Viewing)?

We held our own Hanami Picnic at school to celebrate the blooming of our very own blossom trees. The students came dressed up for the special occasion and brought their lunch in a traditional Japanese Obento Box.

There were some amazing works of art in those lunch boxes! A big thank you to all of the parents who helped make our day such a special occasion!

Science News

We have been blessed with the company of a couple of furry friends who spent the week with us at West Beach PS. Meet Burger and Chez - our two cute, fluffy guinea pigs! They were borrowed from the Nature Education Centre without names. Thankfully, Room 7 used their creative energy to come up with their wonderful names: Burger and Chez.

All students had the pleasure of being able to pat them and watch them scurry back into their retreat hole. It was adorable and so much fun. We also learnt about how guinea pigs don't have many defence mechanisms and their only way to get out of danger is to hide!

Luckily, they had lots of lovely, gentle West Beach students to handle them with care.
