CBCA Book Week: August 21-27
As part of our Book Week celebrations book character parade will be held on Thursday, August 26. So start planning your costumes now. To make up for last year we hope to see as many of you as possible dressed up as your favourite book character (staff included!).
Here are just a few of the books available to borrow from the shortlist categories that will be on display in the library in the coming weeks.
Other events for Book Week include a book mark design competition, author visit and more. Further details will be made available in due course.
Newlands Read-a-thon: August 2-15
The annual Newlands Readathon organised by the PFA is now in full swing. This is a terrific initiative to encourage your kids to read and to raise money for the school library. It's not too late to join in. Just download the attached form and start reading.
Community Reading Rewards: the Little Bookroom
The Little Bookroom is something of a Melbourne institution. The children's bookshop has recently located to new improved premises at 220 St Georges Road, Fitzroy. And now every time you buy a book there and mention the name of your school, 15% of your sale will go towards books for the school. So next time you or your friends shop there remember to say NEWLANDS!
