Special Edition

Todays newsletter has been modified to include information regarding remote learning for the next week. is a little longer than normally would be published.

Once we have returned resumed 'normal' face to face learning we will return to our previous newsletter format.

Covid Update

Firstly thank you to all the families who have assisted the school by emailing their letter of request from their employer. For those who haven't please do so as we need them for our records.

Student attendance on site

Monday 9/08/2021 - Thursday 12/08/2021

Consistent with previous arrangements, schools must continue to provide on-site supervision for students in the following categories:

Children where both parents and/or carers are authorised workers who cannot work from home, work for an essential provider and where no other supervision arrangements can be made:

Supervision Proof

Action required for on-site supervision

  • Submit the electronic form as required fully completed.
  • Submit to the school email inbox a letter of proof from your employer stating you are an essential worker.
  • Similarly we will continue to provide support to families where children are deemed vulnerable.

We hope the community fully understands this approach and respect my position as principal to not only support the need to support the community and suppress the virus, but also my responsibility to the Newlands staff to keep them safe as front line workers who are not at this stage fully vaccinated.

Newlands Learning Continuum

Unfortunately, due to lack of onsite learning, the teachers have been unable complete assessments to update the Maths continuum. This will now be updated Week 9 of Term 3. The ‘Collaborator’ component of the Newlands Keystones will still be updated as previously communicated.

Incursions / Excursions

Due to the current lockdown and ongoing situation please note teams are having to postpone or cancel various incursion and excursions.

The Sentral Calendar will be updated accordingly.

Staff Arrangements - Update

Visual Arts - Lydia has taken on the role as our Visual Arts teacher for the remainder of 2021. It's great to welcome Lydia to our school and again provide our students with a further avenue to explore speaking Spanish outside of the classroom.

Physical Education - Raul has joined us to replace Lisa who has moved the 4-6 area. This arrangement will also continue to the end of the year. Raul come with a rich knowledge of Sport an is very keen to work with our students to develop their sporting skills as well their Spanish. What a fabulous opportunity for the Newlands kids to engage with native speakers outside of the classroom.

4-6 Nadia's class - Nadia has left Newlands for the remainder of 2021 and as a consequence Lisa has stepped into the role. We thank Lisa for stepping in and we wish Nadia all the bet for the remainder of 2021.

Keep safe and try and have a laugh!

I know we are all so disappointed with the situation as we go into lockdown #6, but please look after yourself. Where possible share a laugh, a giggle, a chuckle or even possibly a belly laugh with family and friends.

As my way of possibly helping in this direction I share the the title below in the hope you will also enjoy some ironic humor. I'm a big fan of Sammy J's work and his latest piece to camera last night was par excellence......enjoy!
