It was a surprise and a fast turn around but we knew we had the tools and processes in place to ensure remote learning went off without a hitch. A short stint but our community took the challenge in its stride! We are really proud to present our students with a combination of synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities. Our integration of the Canvas Learning Management System has really empowered our teachers and students to re-imagine learning. 

The benefits of integrating Zoom with Canvas meant that we were still able to provide our students with the important social and emotional support needed to balance independent remote learning. Our staff were all over it, seasoned in the requirements and resources needed to provide seamless learning experiences in an online environment. The Canvas Design Team provided brief catch up and Q&A sessions on the Student Free Day (Monday Week 5) for staff to fine tune their online content and resources. 

We love hearing about student experiences, and while we understand it’s not the ideal learning environment, it is interesting to reflect on those who felt as though they were thriving in this model of learning (article suggestion: Why are some kids thriving during remote learning). Thank you to all parents for supporting your child in meeting our remote learning expectations. One thing is certain: we are happy to be back in the classroom with our students!
