This weekend is the final round of winter fixtures with home games against St Margaret’s. Full details for this week’s fixtures can be found on the College app. The College Sports Executive Committee has been busy planning a full winter sports break-up event for this Saturday straight after all fixtures. Spectators are allowed at all events, please read the spectator guidelines on the College app prior to attending to ensure you comply.
The winter fixtures combined sports break-up will occur this Saturday at the College from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm. The events will include:
All QG winter fixture girls are invited to attend. Please email Ms Barnes CBarnes1@clayfield.qld.edu.au if your daughter is not able to attend as we need to know for catering purposes.
Week 10 is the last week of training and the final two sessions on Monday afternoon and Wednesday morning are key to ensuring our full team is ready to compete. A draft team list will be posted on Friday 10 September prior to the Meet and following the final session at Bowden Park on Monday afternoon, the final team list will be posted on Tuesday 14 September. For Wednesday’s final training session and team breakfast, ALL students who have been attending training for QG Athletics are invited whether they are listed in the team or not. The breakfast is a celebration and thank you to all students who have committed to training and competing for the College in QG Athletics.

This year we will be holding a Boot Camp for both softball and badminton prior to school returning next term to ensure our teams are ready. Please note these camps will occur on Monday 4 October (public holiday) here at the College. Full details will be released in Week 10; however, we are asking girls to keep this date free so we have all teams available to get the most benefit out of these camps.
Badminton and junior softball training will continue as per the training schedule right up until the holidays. A full training schedule is located on the app and girls are asked to check this at the start of every week as there are minor changes due to other events occurring. Please ensure that both parents and students have uploaded the College app onto your device as it is the most up-to-date information available and will alert you of any changes and updates to previous information.
AFL will make its grand debut into the QGSSSA sporting program in Term 4. We have been fortunate enough to organise a 6-week program with Queensland AFL which will culminate in 2 Gala Days for secondary students and 1 Gala Day for primary students. Full details of the introductory program can be found on the College app and on the Croc Board.
Wednesday 15 September is the annual photo day at the College. All sports photos will take place between 10:30 am – 1:00 pm. Girls MUST bring all QGSSSA uniforms along for the photos. Please note that for the big 3 sports (swimming, cross country and athletics) plus gymnastics, girls are asked to wear the full College tracksuit.
Please ensure these uniforms are located prior to Wednesday and packed into the school bags. Students are asked to see Ms Barnes by Tuesday 14 September if they have any problems in sourcing a uniform for these photos.
The annual Sportswoman’s Award Dinner will be held on Wednesday 17 November at Ruggers, 103 Crosby Rd, Albion in the Jacaranda Room. The event will run from 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm and recognise and celebrate excellence, commitment and dedication to sport at Clayfield. All girls and families involved in the QGSSSA Sporting Program in 2021 are warmly invited to attend. The awards will be a big feature of the night along with some amazing guest speakers and a delicious 2-course meal. Full details will be released early next term, please mark this very important date into your calendar.
The Clayfield Volleyball Academy continues every Monday from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm in the PE Centre. Please see Ms Barnes if you are keen to join to collect the paperwork. Any girls who choose to leave the program MUST send an email to confirm this or payments will still be added to your College fees.
Australian Volleyball has recently sent our information regarding the Talent Identification trials that are due to be held later this month. The flyer can be found on the College app.
Metropolitan North has released a revised schedule for the remainder of 2021. Please view the latest schedule via the Met North website.
Please note that the dates listed are for the Met North trial, so Independent North trials will be in the weeks leading up to the trial. Please see Ms Barnes if you are interested in attending any of the events to discuss your suitability and the process for trialling. Note that these trials are for experienced players, not those wishing to try a sport.
The final ESP Sports Series 2 workshop will occur in Week 2 next term with Natasha Anderson. Could all ESP girls please put this date into their diary to ensure they don’t forget. Further details about the session will be released early in Term 4.
