Principal's Report - Mr Pitt

Dear Parents/ Carers,

DOING OUR BEST!

I am so proud of the way our families are doing their best during these most challenging times. I am sure there is not a person/ family who is not finding the continued lockdown difficult and all I can say is thank you. Thank you for doing your best for your children, your family and the community. The COVID numbers are alarming and the only thing we can all do is to continue to follow the health orders and stay home. Please remember if you and your family need any support, contact the office and I will ensure we will do our best to assist you. Thank you to those families who have contacted me directly to thank the school for all that we are currently doing at this time.

A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR STAFF

I would also like to acknowledge the work that is being done by our staff, both teaching and non-teaching. Like our families, we too, find the current NSW Lockdown measures and Working from Home Phase quite challenging. Many Fairvale staff are juggling work commitments as well as supporting their own children, ranging from babies to young adults. Mrs Dean and I are so impressed with how the Fairvale staff continue to work together to ensure we continue Professional Learning as well as staying connected to each other, the children and our Fairvale families. If we were giving out medals, I would be giving a gold medal to everyone!

PARACHUTE VISITS WITH MR PITT

With everybody learning from home, this week I have asked the Learning and Support and Wellbeing Teams to share a little bit about what they have been up to.  The team consists of Mrs C. Bruzzese, Mrs E. Bruzzese, Mr Kinniburgh, Mrs Tannous and Ms Batten.

LOANING OF DEVICES

We have seen over 70 devices being loaned to our families during the Learning at Home Phase. If you do not have access to the internet, and would like to loan a computer device and an internet dongle, please let your child’s teacher know when they contact you this week.  This will give you access to Seesaw, Zoom and other online educational programs such as Mathletics and Reading Eggs.

SCIENCE WEEK

This week is Science Week. The theme is Food: Different by Design. It honours the United Nation’s International Year of Fruits and Vegetables. The Science and Technology Project Team, led by Miss Tran have planned a great activity for each learning grid. Check it out and enter the competition.

BOOK WEEK

Next week is Book Week and Mrs Orwin and the Library Project Team have planned for two fun activities to be completed at this time. This year’s theme is ‘Old Worlds, New Worlds and Other Worlds’. More information will be shared next week. Stay tuned!

FRUIT AND VEGE MONTH

We will also celebrate Fruit and Vegetable Month by completing some fun activities at home. Be sure to check your learning grids and log onto Seesaw to submit your work. This month we encourage students to celebrate the amazing role that fruit and vegetables play in our health, our planet’s health and the health of local communities. What’s your favourite fruit and vegetable?

KINDERGARTEN ENROLMENT 2022

It is now that time of the year to commence the process for Kindergarten enrolment for 2022. If your child is turning 5 years of age before 31 July, 2022 – please complete the steps in the flyer on the next page. Due to COVID-19 and the current NSW Lockdown, the enrolment processes will be completed online, however we will be able to assist you. If you have any questions OR need assistance, please call the school. It is important that we have all children who are ready for Kindergarten enrolled as soon as possible.

For now stay safe, stay connected and please reach out and contact the school if you need any assistance.
