A Few Words From The Captain of the Ship

Dear parents, families and friends,

Term 3. Week 6. Day 21 of a 7 day lockdown.

As I write this today (Thursday 19th August) I am actually lost for words. I have had to face the reality of postponing all the major events for this term. Year 5/6 Snow Camp, School Concert, Tabloid Sports Day, First Holy Communion and the Father's Day Breakfast. In postponing the camp, what I, the staff and most importantly the students will be so disappointed about is that we will miss out on the snow experience if the postponement goes into next term. The whole camp has been designed around going to the snow and experiencing such activities as skiing, tobogganing, snowball making (and throwing) and snowman making.

A lot of work has already gone into preparing for the school concert. I have been heavily involved in the preparations this time, working closely with Mrs Ady and the staff to create a fun story with lots of links and references to Pop Culture. I think it will be an amazing concert. The plan is to have the concert sometime in Term 4.

We have already set a new date for First Holy Communion, Sunday 17th October at 2pm. We are hoping that restrictions will have been lifted by then to allow for greater or full attendance.

With all of these postponements, Term 4 is going to be a very busy, jam packed term with just about something happening each week.

Next Week, Monday 23rd to Friday 27th August is Book Week. Originally we were going to have our Book Week Dress Up Day and Parade on Monday 23rd August. Due to Covid restrictions we had to remove the parade, now we won't even be at school. However, I am going to hold our school assembly live on Monday at 2.30pm. The link to the Google Meet will be sent to all students and families on Monday. I invite all students to dress up as a book character. The theme this year is Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds. Find a book from one of these genres and then dress up as a character from that book.

By the next newsletter in two weeks, I hope that we are at the end of Lockdown 6 and are preparing to return to school.
