Magis report 

John XXIII College fielded two teams in the first round of WADL Interschool debating finals this week,  with our Year 7 team successful against Perth Modern School  and moving to the next round this coming Tuesday. The Year 8 team lost narrowly but had an excellent season, winning their Christchurch division undefeated. 

Our Magiis Camp is being held at Point Walter with a record 44 students attending.  Warmest thanks to Mrs O’Connor and Mrs Holmes for their assistance, and to Skye MacMillan and Bella Pether who are our Year 12 guest speakers at the event. David Castellelani from Alpha Motivation and Kathy Boyatzis from Creative Edge Thinking will be running  extended workshop sessions for the students. A full report will be in next week’s newsletter.

The final event for the 2021 the outstandingly successful House Academic Challenge series, Language Literature, is being completed today with the Year 9 and 10 session, and full results  will be distributed in next week’s newsletter.  The champion House for the Academic series will be announced at the next Secondary Assembly.

Best wishes to Xavier Jeffrey who competes at the WA final of Famelab at the Heath Ledger Theatre this coming Thursday, and to Year 7, 8 and 9 Creative Edge Teams,  and our Tournament of Minds Science-Engineering team, as they prepare for the regional finals the week after.
