Around The Primary

Dear Parents,

After a fantastic dress rehearsal presented to Grandparents today, ‘Bugs the Musical’ officially premieres on Monday the 16 August. The Musical showcases the acting, singing and dancing skills of all 60 Year 4 students culminating with a matinee performance to the Primary school, and an evening performance for family and friends.

The students have been preparing since the beginning of the year during Performing Arts classes and participating in extra rehearsals before and after school. Written and produced by Ms Sasha Cattapan (Primary Drama Specialist) with music arranged by Mrs Catherine Haydon (Primary Music Specialist), the Musical gives each student a moment in the spotlight and covers a range of musical genres.  Many other members of the College community are also involved, including parents who have created incredible costumes and make-up creations, backstage crew and lighting and sound design by Secondary students and staff, sets and props created by maintenance staff, as well as, the wonderful support of Primary staff.

Good luck to all staff and students involved in the performances next week.

IPSHA Cross Country Carnival

To those of you who travelled to Bunbury on Thursday to cheer on our Interschool Team at the IPSHA Cross Country Carnival, thank you! Our runners who took part should be very proud of their efforts. Our focus at carnivals like these are for students to get involved and have a go, to enjoy themselves and to give their best effort. Special thanks to Mr Williams, Miss Graves and Miss Donovan for all their hard work too. From all accounts we had some impressive performances and we are also very proud of the way our students supported each other and celebrated our runners crossing the finish line.

John XXIII Day

Congratulations to our Year 5 and 6 students for running our mini-fete on John XXIII Day.  They raised a total of $2,211.60 for Mary Ward International and Jesuit Missions. Everyone had a great time visiting their stalls!

Kind regards,

IPSHA Cross Country

With an early start on Thursday morning, excitement and energy levels were high on the bus journey to Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School.  Thanks to the Year 5 girls who provided the soundtrack for the journey with renditions of ‘Bob the Builder’, ‘Twinkle Twinkle’ and other timeless classics!

It was a true cross-country course with the runners tackling sand, mud, rocks and even a stream!  We had many runners finish in the top 10.  All competitors should be proud of their efforts.  All the runners represented John XXIII with pride and demonstrated the College spirit through their cheering and sportsmanship.  Well done!
