Principal's Report

Dear families,

BOOK WEEK

As a way of celebrating Book Week students are being asked to dress up as their favourite book character on Monday 21st of August. Currently we have the short-listed books displayed in the Central learning Street if anyone would like to come in and have a browse.

PARENT/STUDENT/TEACHER INTERVIEWS

This week we had the launch of XUNO, our new communication app. If you are having trouble logging in, please contact the school to have your password reset. Please log on and book your appointment with your child’s teacher. Interviews are running in Week 6 -Monday 14th-Friday 18th. You are able to book an in-person interview or request a phone call by ticking the 'online' box. Parent/Student/Teacher Interviews are a chance for you to meet with your child's teacher. By attending, you have an opportunity to become more involved in your child's learning and further develop the very important home-school partnership.

We strongly believe reporting should be a three-way process.  Through being involved in this process students become active participants in the reporting and assessment process. It is very important that students attend the meeting. At the meeting, students will discuss the progress they have made with their learning.  By doing this they develop a sense of ownership and responsibility for their learning.

Meetings will take place in the classrooms. They will be of 15 minutes duration, and it would be appreciated if you could arrive promptly at your appointed time so that the interviews can run as scheduled. If you feel a longer appointment time is needed, please contact the teacher to organise a different day.

FATHER’S DAY STALL

Our annual Father’s Day Stall is on Wednesday 30th August from 9am in the art room. Donations for the stall would be greatly appreciated. They can be sent along to school or be left in the basket near the office. If you are available to help on the day, please inform the office.

BREAKFAST CLUB

Breakfast Club continues to be very popular. Many thanks to Mrs Kimmorley and the girls who have been coming along to help on a Wednesday morning. It is greatly appreciated.

UNIFORMS

Recently we have noticed that many children are coming to school wearing the incorrect uniform especially the wrong-coloured shorts and track suit pants. Many students are wearing black instead of navy blue.  Winter jackets can be worn to school and in the yard, but not in the classroom. Navy blue embroidered beanies are available from Tatura Logo & Promos. I would appreciate your support with this concern. The wearing of the correct uniform is a sign of respect for our school and our culture.

JEANS FOR GENES DAY

It was fantastic to see everyone dress up last Friday for Jeans for Genes day. Donations from the students and staff totalled $174.

Have a lovely weekend,

Regards Heather
