Measuring routes in K/6T

K/6T have returned to school ready to learn! We are learning to differentiate between longer and shorter lines. We extended this lesson by drawing our car trip home from Woodland Road Public School. Some students had shorter journeys than others, but everyone was able to discuss how they get home (with the added topic of public transport!). We used Google Maps to look at different areas around the school and calculated the time it would take to drive home using those routes. Students used addition and their creativity to imagine stopping at multiple places (bakery, petrol station, shops), and the time it would add to their overall trip. What a fun and engaging lesson!
