Parents & Friends Association

Pizza Night Meeting on 1st August

Thank you to Fr Kevin Davine, Mr Tony Rolfe and all the parents who gathered for the Parents and Friends Association Pizza Night Meeting on Tuesday 1st August. In the words of Fr Davine, who has served in all three Oblate Colleges, “People belong to the school, and the school belongs to the people.  We enjoy a great sense of community. The boys are happy and safe. The parents are happy to be here. Our job is to keep it the way it is”. With his wealth of personal experience at the college, Fr Davine shared some insight into what has physically changed at the college, even mentioning the turtles that live on campus!

Food and conversation are always a good combination. The evening was a good opportunity for insight and discussion; we talked about what parents could do to feel more engaged with the school – attending morning Mass with their sons, helping in the canteen, volunteering to assist with upcoming events like the Winter Sleepout (which has been postponed to 8 September) and participating in family events such as the Trivia Night on 24 November – so save the date! At the conclusion of the evening, Mr Rolfe took the group on an impromptu tour of the new Year 8 facilities and the Penola Centre. Some were particularly keen on the egg chairs in the sensory room; just saying. Our next meeting on campus is in Term 4.

Gearing up for Father's Day

Lately I’ve just been trying to help my friend who’s struggling with an addiction to brake fluid. It’s ok though. He says he can stop anytime!! 😁

We thought we’d bring back “Dad Jokes”, especially as Fathers Day is next month!

If you have a Dad Joke please send to parentsandfriends@mazenod.vic.edu.au with the subject, ‘Dad Joke’.

We welcome all parents and guardians. Please register to join the association and be part of this growing group of parents who seek to be more engaged and part of the Mazenod life! Leave nothing undared.
