Intermediate Badminton EMR
Recently on the 28th of June, intermediate boys’ badminton travelled to Kilsyth in which the A team played against many renowned schools. These schools included Glen Waverley SC, Balwyn HS, Yarra Hills SC, Wantirna College, East Doncaster SC, Ringwood SC and Templestowe College.
A team consisted of Adhyan Kathpal, Arvind Indukiri, BenjaminLee , Kanta Nishimoto, Shreyaj Guha and Tanmay Dayal attended the event.
Our team won the first two games while dominating their opponents. The streak did not last long as we faced Balwyn SC and lost with some close games. This put us second in the bracket, and thus for the semi finals match we faced Glen Waverley SC, who subsequently beat us and then came first in the event.
Despite the unanticipated loss, as coaches we are proud and satisfied with the result of these boys. Throughout this journey of playing badminton and developing fundamentals of hard work and effort, these boys played relentlessly with an outstanding performance. We are proud of you all!
We would also like to thank Mr Li as the teacher who has influenced us all into loving the sport, we all know as badminton. We also thank the umpires and organisers who organized this event in which it ran smoothly and gave us all an opportunity to have a hit (including coaches and teachers).
Being able to experience badminton as a coach has taught me how to listen and give advice specialised for everyone. Furthermore, widened my ability to understand how players will play and hopefully next year we can move on to the next round of state!
Luckily this time no racket strings broke 😊

Senior Badminton EMR
Recently, the Senior Boys badminton teams competed in the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Championships at Kilsyth. With both pools being filled with lots of strong competition the team was up for a challenge.
In our own pool, Brentwood were up against Balwyn, Rowville and Lilydale Heights. We comfortably competed against both Rowville and Lilydale Heights, however Balwyn gave us a big challenge. After a long fight, Balwyn took the winning title in our pool with a 4-2 set win. This results us in coming second in pool A, meaning Glen Waverley was up next in the cross over semi-finals. Glen Waverley was also a strong school, with some amazing scores and nail biting matches, Glen Waverley took the win to go through to the finals.
Even though the competition was tough, our team came home with learning experiences that will further develop us as players.
Thank you to Mr. Li for organising this event for us, as well as training everyone so we could play our best, making sure the day ran smoothly.
