Principal's Report
The Brentwood values for Community; Compassion, Empathy, Integrity, Respect and Responsibility are lived by our students, staff and parents daily and are a source of strength and pride for our school community. A quick scroll of our school’s recent Facebook posts is full of images that showcase our student’s connections with their local and broader communities.
In the last week we have welcomed back after a hiatus visitors from our sister school Ono Senior High School in Japan, with whom we have enjoyed a long-held friendship through exchange visits for the past twenty years. Their return reflects the enduring value of our close association, one that provides our respective students with a deeper appreciation, understanding and engagement with another culture and builds their capacity to think and act as global citizens as envisioned by our school’s vision for learning.
Members of the Green Team in partnership with our Parents and Friends Association, local Member of Parliament John Mullahy and Deputy Mayor Nicky Luo collaborated to nurture our local environment both onsite and along Scotchman’s Creek trail through extensive planting of garden beds as part of National Schools Tree Day. Their efforts to continue to develop and improve the school grounds and environment in particular is enjoyed by all.
The school production of the musical School of Rock opens on the 15th of this month and invites the wider school community who gather and celebrate the talent and creativity of our students and staff that have worked excitedly for months to ensure it will be another stage spectacular. We look forward to seeing many of you there.
Upcoming online Learning Conferences & Progress Reports
Learning Conferences this semester will be held online on Wednesday 23rd August from 11:00am to 7:00pm via the Cisco Webex platform. Bookings for Learning Conference appointments will open next week via Compass on Thursday 10th August and brief Progress Reports will be available to download via Compass on Wednesday 16th August.
Learning Conferences are a valuable opportunity for a three-way conversation between parents, students and teachers. As active participants in their own education, students are expected to attend the learning conferences with you. Students are encouraged to reflect on their efforts and discuss future learning goals and challenges with both you and their teachers.
Please note that this is a student free day and the school will not be providing supervision for students as there are no scheduled classes on this day.
