20 Year Reunion

1996, 20 Year Reunion

On Saturday 22 October, a large group of past pupils came back to see their old school, after leaving here 20 years ago. They began with a gathering in the Meeting Room, which many had never seen before, as it was the Chapel when they were here. Despite the inclement weather, they were able to tour the school without getting wet (a physical impossibility in their day!) They marvelled at the changes and were particularly surprised by the Atrium, which in 1996 was home to a number of buildings. One was the Year 9 Coordinator’s Office and the other the Maintenance Area. With the rain bucketing down, it was impossible for them to visit the tower, which is normally a highlight of such a tour. Much catching up was done and after about two hours here, the ladies adjourned to the Pimm Room at the Kingston Club in Mordialloc where they were joined by another ten or so of their group.

A number are still locals and will be parents of Kilbreda girls before long. They were delighted to meet some former teachers, including Mrs Devlin, Ms Dempster, Mr Mangan, Mr Gallo and Mr Walter Tedde, who currently works with the organiser of the day, Kelly Wintle (nee Turra) at Sacré Coeur. I had an interesting time too, having taught about 75 of the 83 who turned up and being a homeroom teacher to many of them in Years 8 and 9!

Thanks again to the members of the Past Pupils’ Network Committee for helping out and particularly those present on the day, Mesdames Wragg, Callaghan and Patogiannis.
