Parkrun

Parkfun

Parkrun has come to many local parks in Australia. This community based organisation aims to improve the health and well- being of their local communities, one week at a time.

Started over a decade ago in the UK, ‘parkrun’ is a free, volunteer organised, timed, 5k event held every Saturday in a local park.

Recently ‘parkrun’ arrived at Chelsea Bicentennial Park and is attracting upwards of 180 runners and walkers each Saturday at 8.00am. It has become the venue for a number of past pupils to meet and encourage each other to  get out in a local park with others and be active. Participants range from an Olympic trainer who runs the distance in 17 minutes, to mums pushing their bubs in prams taking up to an hour, and everyone and everything in between.

Here is Chelsea Bicentennial Event Director, Peta Wragg (a member of the Network committee) and eager parkrunner past pupils.
