Middle School News

Welcome to Middle School, 2019!

We have hit the ground running in Middle School. This last week has been busy setting up new Middle School routines and expectations. It has been great to see all of our new cohort working as a team and enjoying each others company.

We have done a lot of work around our whole school values. The students have brainstormed how we can be 5 star learners in Middle School and have set goals around the different learning areas.

We are looking forward to a successful and busy first term!

Homework

In Middle School, there is an expectation that students are reading nightly for 15-20 minutes. All students now have their school diaries, these need to be brought to school daily with a book title and signature of an adult/older sibling. This shows us that students are actively reading at home.

Our weekly homework will be handed out every Thursday. This will need to be completed and returned by the following Wednesday. As a class, we will work together to correct our homework before students will be given the new sheet for the week.

If you have any questions in regards to this, please see your students classroom teacher.

Camp update.

We are in the process of finalising the number of students that will be attending the Middle School camp in March.

Within the next week, final payment and permission forms will be sent out/available on Sentral.

We will keep you updated with any camp information over the next few weeks.

If you have any questions, please see Miss May.

Week 1 reflection from the Middle Students...

By Tenille and Chris (Middle A)

'WOW Science this year has really changed. We are learning about gum trees and what lives in them. Some animals are koalas, honey bees and cockatoos. Koala's eat the leaves, honey bees make their hives in the tree and cockatoos eat the seed from the gum nut. Thankyou'

'This year I think Art will be fun. Art has a variety of subjects, like sewing, drawing, painting, beading, ect. So far we learnt how to be artists. Art so far has been doing activities like free drawing, making stuff out of fabric and painting. I think for the rest of the year out will be our favourite subject.'

'WOW! First lesson of PE and it is SO hot. We met our new PE teacher, Mr Wright. We started by some games we played. Octopus, ball tiggy, everyones it and walls. Out of 10 for fun it was a solid nine out of ten. Mr Wright is great. He even slam dunked.'
