Nunga News

Ninna marni (Hi, How are you?),

We have held two Nunga Group sessions so far this term and it's lovely to see them forming friendships and also taking on leadership roles so early in the piece.

Coming up next month we have Closing the Gap Day on the 19th March 2020. This is a time for all Australians to come together and commit to achieving health equality for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander life expectancy is about 7-8 years less than non-Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Hence, the name 'Closing the Gap'. There is an event at Wayville Showgrounds on the day, however it is a school day. There will be a range of local  Aboriginal health and support services there as well as lots of activities for the kids for anyone who would like to attend. For more information go to: https://closingthegapday.net/
