STUDENT LEADER'S NEWS
SCHOOL CAPTAINS
Over the past few weeks we have seen a new whiteboard opened for student use in the VCE Study Hall, and the continuation of the Year 12 Breakfast.
It is fantastic to see all the new initiatives in the school, and the school captaincy team looks forward to working alongside all year level captains to achieve amazing things next term.

YEAR 12 CAPTAINS
We are really excited to report that the Year 12’s now have a new Revision Wall with white boards, pin boards and couches to help improve our learning environment within the Study Hall.
Last week we also took the opportunity to choose a Year 12 motto, and after a vote we would like to announce that “2015 is the year to work hard, work smart and work together”.

YEAR 11 CAPTAINS
Time has gone by very quickly. It is almost the end of Term 1 already!
We have been very busy completing our first lot of SACs and assignments and we are very proud of the hard work we have put in.
Lets all enjoy the two-week break, so we can freshen up and get ready for another great term. Keep up the good work and as Ms Powson says....'winners never quit and quitters never win'.

PERFORMING ARTS
The first rehearsal for ‘All Shook Up’ was a highlight for all cast members this week. Preparations have
begun for a little ‘sneak peak’ for the Grade 6 Information Night in May.
It was great to have the Year 10 and Year 12 Bands support the Worlds Greatest Shave last Friday, which was a fabulous day for everyone involved.

VISUAL ARTS
Currently in Art Club, the students are working on their recycled flowers made out of plastic bottles, encouraging the students to have fun using recycled materials to create art and encourage smart waste management throughout the school.
The location of our recycled flowers is being discussed and will hopefully reflect the importance of caring for our environment.
All students are welcome to attend Art Club on Tuesdays at lunchtime in Room 4. It is a great opportunity to have fun and let the students’ creativity flow in a safe and accepting environment. Hope to see you there!

SPORT
Next Friday 27 March, the annual Student vs Teacher Netball match will be held in the Basketball Stadium at lunchtime.
We look forward to seeing you there and in support of the students to find vengeance in the past victorious teachers.

SCIENCE
Science at Lilydale High is majestic and undoubtedly one of the best subjects to study!
Our Chemistry students visited the Victorian Space Science Education Centre (VSSEC) to conduct experiments involving spectroscopy and chromatography.
Meanwhile, Physics students had the opportunity to learn about circular motion at Lunar Park! But wait, there's more!
For Environmental Science, the Year 12's went on a fun and exciting field trip to the Toolangi State Forest to observe habitat and population of the Leadbeater's Possum last Tuesday.
We hope everyone had fun celebrating International Pi Day on March 14, 2015 at 9:26:53am π =3.141592653
Pi Day is celebrated on March 14 (3/14) around the world. Pi (Greek letter “π”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159.

HUMANITIES
Last week, the Year 10 students studying War to Peace History got the opportunity to visit the Jewish Holocaust Museum. The museum is an institution dedicated to the memory of the 6 million Jewish victims of the Holocaust.
This valuable opportunity allowed the students to hear from Jewish survivors of the Holocaust, read through articles and see visuals of the time period.
As it always has, this excursion was a valuable and heart-toughing experience for the Year 10 History students.
