Tidal Flow is an oceanic inspired yoga and wellness studio opening soon in the heart of Oakleigh.

The studio is vision of husband and wife team Karen and Chris Shelton and a space for people from all walks of life.

“We encourage people to bring onto the mat what they experience off it. Everyone experiences highs and lows, like tidal movements. Knowing we can flow through these with our practice and together as a community, this is Yoga.” - Karen Shelton.

Life is a constant Rise and Fall like the tides. We encourage a mindful approach to yoga and wellness for both mind and body. Tidal Flow is a movement that Flows Together, and a community committed to strength in play, zero judgement and rolling creativity.

Research Study: Mothers of a child with a disability: Perspectives on health, healthy behaviours and family access to the community

Study 1

For Mothers: Mothers of a child with a disability: Perspectives on health, healthy behaviours and family access to the community

This project investigates relationships between subjective health, health behaviours, community engagement and work among Australian mothers of children with a disability/severe chronic medical condition. In particular, this study seeks to identify and quantify maternal and family inclusion and engagement in the community. Understanding mother’s perspectives of their local environments, their health behaviours and how they pursue community-based health-promoting opportunities provides the first step in understanding how environments may be altered to enhance you and your families' engagement in healthy community based activities. Further, this study provides an important step in the development of two new ways to measure just how accessible, inclusive and engaging community facilities are for families like yours. Study 2

For Fathers: Fathering a child or young person with a disability: What helps, hinders and supports fathers in their important role in the family?

Monash University and the Cerebral Palsy Education Centre are conducting research to explore the experiences, health, wellbeing and needs of fathers caring for a child/young person with a disability. Participation means that you will complete a short anonymous online survey. The results will assist in the development of services that better support fathers of children/young people with a disability, and improved understanding for health professionals about the health and life situation of fathers. You are invited to participate if you are a father of a child/young person with any disability living in Australia. Participation is confidential and fathers will not be identified in any reports from the study.
