MERCY CAMPUS NEWS

MERCY WORKS

Students have been working alongside Mr Ray DeGroot, who works for OzFish, an organisation that helps sustain our waterways.

On Tuesday November 8, students picked up rubbish and listened to a presentation regarding the river's health, preparations for the flood, how it impacts our river, and how they can help.

In previous weeks, students have been helping with controlled experiments on limestone rocks and their impact on the salinity and PH levels of the water. If successful, these rocks can be used to create ‘fish hotels’ or rock habitats for young fingerlings.

The work they have been doing has been amazing.

MERCY WORKS

Mercy Works students started shopping for St Vincent de Paul's Christmas Appeal.  This group enjoyed going to Kmart and selecting gifts for various people.

The students in my Mercy Works class over the course of Term 4 have been planning their own activities. In week nine, they organised to do some cooking and donate the final products to the Sacred Heart Soup Kitchen. Students did all the organisation with Mrs Kim Kelly.

The end results were three boxes full of chocolate ball and cookie gift bags to be given out at the Sacred Heart Soup Kitchen. A huge thanks to Kim Kelly and Lisa Berryman for their assistance.
