PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Christmas is in the air, and so it is time to welcome you to the final issue of Community for 2022.

Following a dynamic year, the college has flown through Term 4, deftly balancing the demands of study and exams with the joys of extracurricular activities. We think you will be pleasantly surprised at everything our students have achieved in the handful of weeks since our last issue.

Before you read about all that, kindly allow me to wish you the merriest of Christmases. As we celebrate the Saviour’s birth, may you and your loved ones enjoy a safe holiday season full of happiness and memories that you will hold in your hearts forever.

We honour and respect the trust put in us by the families of our students. For as much as St Joseph’s College exists as a centre for excellence in education, it also acts as a haven for a diverse community. Belonging is so central to college life, and we proudly celebrate it whenever possible in a wide variety of ways to show we are a community that values all its members.

Our college aspires to reflect the fundamental duty of every Catholic person, which is to extend love to all. Accordingly, the topics of inclusion and diversity for a component of the social responsibility the college has to the diverse nature of its students and families and are consistent with the vast majority of parental expectations.

The below quote, attributed to writer Agnes M Pharo, perfectly expresses the quieter side of Christmas underlying all the seasonal merrymaking. It struck a chord with me, as I hope it will with you.

What is Christmas? It is tenderness for the past, courage for the present, hope for the future. It is a fervent wish that every cup may overflow with blessings rich and eternal, and that every path may lead to peace.

God Bless

Mrs Marg Blythman

College Principal
