Students have made a brilliant start to Technology Foods and Textiles for 2023!
Year 7 students have been developing their knife skills through the preparation of seasonal fruit salad and French toast. They have also learnt how to use the stove top and organise themselves during production lessons. Students have worked so positively and collaboratively and are showing such creativity with the presentation of their food. Keep up this amazing effort Year 7s!
Students began their semester of Café Culture focusing on typical breakfast options served at cafés. The order of the day for their first production was a pancake stack. Students put their knowledge and creativity skills to use to prepare and present a pancake stack served with seasonal berries. The consistency of their products was commendable and presentation noteworthy. This week students were challenged with Eggs Benedict. It was wonderful to see students ‘stretching’ their skill set to prepare a Hollandaise sauce. Students are looking forward to developing their barista skills over the coming weeks with the arrival of the new coffee machine. Exciting times ahead in Café Culture!
The Grade 5/6 students have been developing their knife skills through the preparation of seasonal fruit salad and using the ‘rubbing in’ process to prepare cheese straws. Students have been so enthusiastic with their learning and thoroughly enjoy their Technology – Foods lessons!
The Grade 2/3/4 students have been improving their skills in threading a needle and creating a design using wool on a paper plate. Students have been making decisions on the type of wool they want to use, and what stitches they could use to sew their design. Students are looking forward to completing their textile product.
