Principal Report

On behalf of the Edenhope College Staff and College Council I would like to welcome all of our students, parents and guardians, and members of the College Community to the start of the 2023 school year. I would like to welcome our new students in Foundation and Year 7 as well as any new families to the College Community. We look forward to working closely with families to support our young people to become the best versions of themselves.

One of the more challenging aspects of returning to school at the start of the year is the re-establishment of good routines. It is important for all students and staff to maintain a well-balanced routine of sleep, nourishment and recreational activity to support their social and emotional selves. I encourage families to support the students in developing positive routines and alert the school to any matters that may affect their learning and interactions at school. We achieve the greatest results when we work together.

2022 saw the return of a significant number of our extra-curricular programs and camps which we know are very important for student connectedness to school and others. We encourage all students to find an activity outside the classroom and participate, whether this is sport, music, lunchtime activities etc and connect with others. A sense of belonging helps shape students’ beliefs about themselves, their potential, and the learning context. Connectedness can start with the small things, like wearing our uniform correctly and ensuring our hats are worn in term 1 & 4. Getting the small things right is important.

Sport and Recreation

Braithan Reid and Dash Adams have been working tirelessly to build a ‘new’ gym at the Edenhope College as a part of their Sport and Recreation studies. This project serves as a practical approach to their learning program that complements the theoretical tasks they have to achieve. Once their gym has been completed they will conduct WH&S inspections, educate different user groups on how to use the facility safely before inducting and training interested parties to use the gym at lunchtime and potentially afterschool.
