CLASS - TRANSITION

It was great to meet our new students for 2023 this week. 

The students were involved in a taster of Plant and Animal Production Systems. They learnt about beneficial bugs and pests, Integrated Pest Management and different ways we can control pests. Students then searched for and collected insects down at Horticulture and determined whether they were a beneficial insect or a pest. They looked at soil profiles before getting their hands dirty and completing soil ribbon tests and potting up some Rosemary, Mint and Tomato cuttings.

Students also looked through Sheep and Beef Enterprises, developed their understanding of animal terminologies and the basic anatomy of sheep and cattle. Hopefully they now have a better understanding of the types of topics covered in our Plants and Animal courses and we hope they are all looking forward to Class in 2023.
