A Message from the Principal

Mrs Pauline Long

Dear Parents and Carers,

The end of the school year is definitely action packed for our school community!

Last week we had a special Mass to celebrate the school year and to wish our Year 6 students all the best as they leave St Joey’s for High School.

Our Kinder students completed a very successful Readiness program. The students have all settled into school life happily and we look forward to seeing our Kinder students join us for their first day of school on Monday 6th February. Some of our new Kinder students for 2023 are pictured below.

We had the final of our St Joey’s Got Talent Competition. Congratulations to all the students who participated; it was a very enjoyable event! Congratulations to Ricky and Ryder Hird, our winners, with a very clever comedy act. In second place the Bowley brothers, James & Oliver, entertained us with a dance routine.

Mathematics Success!

During the year our stage 3 students entered two Mathematics Competitions; The ICAS assessment and the Newcastle Permanent Competition. Congratulations to our students who performed to a high standard: Jack Bennett, Ayden Coward, Brandan Thompson, Charles Lee and Alex Cortis.

With Gratitude

The end of the school year is always a time to thank the many people who have contributed to our community. Thank you Fr Kingsley for your class visits, prayers and guidance.  Thank you to our wonderful staff for your team work, dedication and care of our students.  Thanks to our students for being 'YOU'.  Thanks also to our PT & F led by Clare Lee, Rachel Coward, Jenni Hird, Marnie Jamieson and Michelle Cortis. We all appreciate the countless hours you put into our school community. Thank you also to our School Advisory Council led by David Lee for your help and advice.

2023 Staff News

We welcome Kerry Quinton to the position of Canteen Supervisor for 2023. Kerry has extensive experience in food & hospitality and she will be a real asset to our school. The canteen will operate each Friday and we will be seeking accreditation to be a ‘Healthy School Canteen’ in 2023.

We also welcome Michelle Cortis and Rachel Coward to our team as part time/casual school support staff.

At this point in time, class teachers will remain on the same grade next year.

Kinder: Miss Sallie Pilgrim

Stage 1: Mrs Sharnie Meade

Stage 2: Mrs Robyn Wilson

This week we have had a Christmas theme each day! I hope this fun activity helps you get into the Christmas spirit! Tomorrow is Wacky Wednesday, wear your best Xmas themed headwear;  on Thrifty Thursday get crafty and make your own Xmas decoration to wear and Friday is a festive Mufti Day for all!

I pray each of our families will experience Hope, Peace and Joy this Christmas. Travel safely and I look forward to another wonderful year together in 2023.

School resumes in 2023 for students from Years 1 - 6 on Tuesday 31st January.

Kinder students commence on Monday 6th February.
