Centenary Commemorative Art Gallery

During term 3 and 4 our art teacher Ms Arendze supported all of the students to develop a piece of art work to be displayed as part of our centenary galley. The standard of the work was extremely high and we needed help to decide who would be the overall winner.
Enter local artist Anna Blatman. Anna so generously gave up her time to come in and judge all the art works. Anna spoke highly of the creativity of all our RPS students and found picking an overall winner extremely difficult.
As well as the top five winning students Anna gave high commendations to the following students:
- Foundation A: India PD, Henry P & Flynn B
- Foundation B: Raf M & Ashton G
- 1/2A: Faizan S & Lucas K
- 1/2B: Thomas C, Pragya G & Leo S
- 1/2C: Tori B, Jessie BS & Micah C
- 1/2D: Lachie F & Juliana W
- 1/2E: Max M, Lottie K & Gabriel M
- 3/4A: Wyatt L, Sam Davis & Lewis S
- 3/4B: Clea M, Evie L & Lexi M
- 3/4C: Max FD & Eva KL
- 5/6A: Termeh N, Lily H & Tosca S
- 5/6B: Freya H, Gabriel F & Maddi S

Congratulations to all of these students for the beautiful pieces they created!
In the end though we did need a winner from each year level.

Our year level winners were:
- Foundation – Arlo P
- Grade 1/2 – Emelia W & Ruby G
- Grade 3/4 – Jamie AC
- Grade 5/6 - Aurora M
The overall winner was Jamie AC from 3/4C
Congratulations to all of you!
Anna was very impressed with each of your pieces and commented on the great use of colour and composition in all of them.
We also need to thank Suzete, Isabel, Naomi, Bianca, Kara & Tarryn for mounting and displaying all the art work.
After months of preparation for the art logo competition and exhibition the unveiling of all the artworks finally occurred at the opening of the 100th Centenary Assembly for Ripponlea Primary School. We were so happy with all that our students from Foundation to Year 6 achieved through this process of logo design. Their artworks were inspired by the artists and art styles of; James Rizzi, Paul Klee, graffiti street art and graphic logo art styles. The incredibly talented local artist Anna Blatman, Lee (parent of our school and Snack Shack Manager) and our Principal Natalie Rose selected winners from each year level and an overall winner. Jamie Ash-Chamberlain was the grand prize winner who will now have his artwork featured on the school uniform.Well done to all our Ripponlea Primary School students from Foundation to Year 6.
Foundation artworks were inspired by the American Pop Artist; James Rizzi with their bright city buildings with funny faces.
Year 1 and 2 artworks were inspired by the Swiss-German artist, Paul Klee. Paul Klee was a painter who created the colourful cityscape in the book ‘Cat and bird’.
Year 3 and 4 students experimented with graffiti style lettering to create their 100th centenary logos.
Year 5 and 6 used the principles of graphic design to create their 100th centenary logos.
