100 Year Gallery

A massive thanks needs to go to Lee Wallace for providing current and past RPS community members a trip down memory lane on Friday the 11th of November.

Lee spent a massive amount of time curating our memorabilia and reaching out to our alumni to gather their stories and any artefacts they wished to share.

We had over 50 past RPS students, teachers and family members visit with us for our Friday assembly and many spotted themselves in old photographs of the school.

We heard a lot of interesting stories about the school and were all really happy that we have Mrs Rose as our principal and not Mr Skinner or Mr Cunningham! It was interesting to learn that we used to be called Ripponlea State School and that boys and girls were not allowed to play together at school in the past. What we mostly learnt though, was that many people have many happy memories of their time at RPS.

One of the amazing parts of our gallery was a video from one of our past students, Margaret Boyle, who will turn 100 in February. Margaret is very happy for us to share her video with you all.

You can watch the full video below. Margaret shares many happy memories of her time at RPS.

As well as Lee we would like to thank the following for their contribution to the 100 year gallery:

John Deeks, Ian Smyth, Mal Suttie, Ron Kidd, Graeme Davenport, Julie Walker, Jonathon Goffin, Lyndal Thomas, Michael Dwyer, Kenneth McKean (dec.) & Dot Mckean, Deborra-Lee Furness, Hon, Dr Barry Jones AC, Adie (crossing supervisor), Glen Eira Historical Society, St Kilda Historical Society and Margaret Boyle and her family.
