Well, what a big year 2023 has been at Scotsburn! We have so much to celebrate and be proud of, none more than the achievements of each and every student at the campus. We would like to take this time to thank the whole Scotsburn community for your support across the entire year, it has been a real team effort. This week provides us with a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the year with students and staff, with us concluding the week with our big Scotsburn Christmas Concert - we can’t wait! Thanks again to everyone and we hope you all have a restful and enjoyable break!

Scotsburn Campus Photo

Last Friday, we were lucky enough to have Nyree and Andrew Wilson pop out to take a whole campus photo. This will be a wonderful keepsake for years to come, to add to our photo wall in the old building. We want to give a huge thank you to Nyree and Andrew for volunteering their time, we really appreciate it. We will share the photo with you all at the beginning of next year.

Scotsburn Christmas Shared Lunch

On Monday we held our annual Scotsburn Christmas Shared lunch. This always provided a great opportunity to come together as a campus to share a special meal, and celebrate the year that was. Students were treated to make-your-own gourmet burgers, cordial, and icecream and jelly. By the looks of the empty plates coming back, the meal was very much enjoyed!

Scotsburn 2023 Orientation Day

Today we held our 2023 Orientation Day at Scotsburn. All students at the Scotsburn Campus spent the whole day with their 2023 classmates and teachers (including the new preps), participating in a range of transition activities to assist with getting ready and settled for the new year. There was certainly plenty of excitement around the campus, with students looking very keen to begin in their new classrooms.

Scotsburn 2023 Welcomes and Farewells

With a new year, comes some changes in our staff up at Scotsburn. After two years at the campus, we say farewell to Dani Eddy. Dani has left a lasting legacy at the campus and she will be sorely missed by all. We thank you Dani for everything that you have done for all students at the campus, consistently going over and above to provide the best learning experiences for your students.

This year, we also say farewell to Jess Micallef. Although Jess has only spent one year with us, she has made a huge impact on the Scotsburn students in PE and Performing Arts. It has been wonderful to see all students at the campus develop their perming and physical abilities, particularly their creative side. Thank you so much Jess, the students will certainly miss you a lot!

Across the next week, we will be making some special presentations to both Dani and Jess, and we wish them both well back at the Buninyong campus next year.

In 2023, we will welcome three new staff to the campus. Firstly, we welcome Mitch Walsh into SC2, who makes his way up after teaching at the Buninyong campus for 3 years . In SC1, we welcome Kirsty Richardson, who is a familiar face to Buninyong Primary School, and will be sharing the classroom with Ana. We also give a warm welcome to Rachel Middlin. Rachel will be teaching Physical Education and Performing Arts on Thursdays, and the addition of a new specialist subject, STEM, every second Monday.

Mitch, Kirsty and Rachel have been up to meet the students and staff over the past few weeks, with Kirsty and Mitch teaching their new classes for our Orientation Day. We are very excited to have all three joining us in 2023, and they can’t wait to meet you all and get started.

Scotsburn Pool Fun Day

Wednesday 14th December

A reminder that our pool day is tomorrow, between 10:00am – 12:00pm. We will be heading off to Fed Uni Pool to participate in a variety of pool activities. Students will then be treated to some hot chips when we return to school. If there are any dietary requirements for your child, please see your child’s teacher. Students are encouraged to also bring their normal lunch on this day as well, as the chips may not be enough to fill hungry little bellies!

Pick up and drop off at Scotsburn will be normal times.

End of Year Scotsburn Christmas Concert and Picnic

Friday 16th December - 2pm - 4pm

Students have been practising feverishly and can’t wait to show you all our hard work! The concert will begin at 2pm, however feel free to begin setting up picnic rugs from 1.45pm. The weather is looking reasonably good, so we are hopeful of a nice afternoon in the sun. We will aim for parents and friends to set up on the oval, with the “stage” at the far end of the oval. We will let you know of changes to the arrangements should the weather turn.

Just a reminder that Santa will be visiting and we will need all of  Santa’s helpers to assist us with this! Please see earlier Compass message if you are unsure on this process or please see a staff member if you need help in arranging for this to happen.

We look forward to seeing you all there to celebrate the year together.

CFA Visit Monday

Monday 19th December

To celebrate the end of the year in the spirit of ‘giving’ we are asking your child to do jobs around the house (e.g. empty the dishwasher, weed Gran’s garden, wash the dog, vacuum the house) to earn money for a donation to the wonderful Buninyong-Mount Helen CFA. The money that your child raises needs to go into an envelope with their name on and the jobs that they did listed on the front. Alternatively, your child might like to make a straight donation placed into an envelope with your child’s name on it. There is no minimum amount.

Once we have presented our envelopes, in return, the CFA will participate in an epic water fight with the students and teachers. Please ensure students pack their bathers and a towel on the 19th.  Students are also welcome to bring a water pistol to be used during the water fight if they would like.

Grade 6 Graduation

Monday 19th December, Buninyong Campus - 6pm - 9pm

Next Monday, Tully, Aiden and Xavier will join the Buninyong campus Grade 6 students for their Graduation night. We wish them all the best in their last week of primary school. All three have done a marvellous job leading the campus and have left a lasting impression on the campus. Enjoy your night boys!

Last Day of School Reminder

Tuesday 20th December, Buninyong Campus - 9am - 1.30pm

This year the last day of school is Tuesday 20th December. As we did last year, we will start the morning at the Buninyong Campus for the whole school assembly. Our Grade 6 leaders will be presenting at assembly as well as many other end of year celebrations. As it is a 1.30pm finish, we will spend the entire day at Buninyong, so please remember pick up arrangements will be at Buninyong. We will meet parents and carers in the courtyard at 1.15pm for a final campus farewell. If your child is planning to give any cards or presents at the end of the year to friends, It may be easier to do this by Monday 19th, as this will be our last day at the Scotsburn Campus for 2022.

SC1 Learning Snapshot

Our last full week of the year is here and what a busy week it is. If you have any questions about any of our upcoming events, please feel free to contact me. We look forward to our Orientation Day on Tuesday when we welcome our 2023 Preps and families. All students will meet their teachers for next year and spend the day in their classrooms. This is a wonderful opportunity for all our students to participate in extra transition and some fun activities in their classroom with their new classmates.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for such a wonderful year. Your support and kindness are very much appreciated. I feel privileged to work in such an amazing school community with wonderful students and families. I hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas and a relaxing and wonderful break with your families. I look forward to seeing everyone again in the new year.

Thanks again,

Ana

SC2 Learning Snapshot

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! I know that some of the students were a little worried as we started to pack up the classroom however they didn’t realise that they were making way for our Christmas decorations, which are now adorning the classroom making it look very festive and bright.. Thank you for assisting by bringing in some decorations and it has been wonderful to see some very imaginative Christmas coat hanger designs trickling through the door. I can’t wait until they are all in and hanging up.

With only one full week left at school, it is going to be a busy one with rehearsals, fun and festivities and we can not forget that on Tuesday the students will spend the day in their new classes which will be an exciting day for everyone.

Thank you to those students who have already bought things in for our concert and reverse advent calendar. It has been delightful to see how excited and proud the kids are and to witness the spirit of giving. Your generosity and support  is greatly appreciated.

Wishing you all a safe and Happy Christmas surrounded by family and friends. I hope you get to enjoy a well earned break and make some memorable moments with your children.

Merry Christmas,

Dani

SC3 Learning Snapshot

Our last full week of school is finally upon us! SC3 have continued to complete finishing off tasks, with lots of students publishing some writing from across the year to make into a book to bring home. Students in SC3 have also done a terrific job helping to organise and lead our whole campus events, with a few more still to come.

Thanks to each and everyone one of you who are directly involved in the SC3 “family” this year. I have truly appreciated all your support and kindness across the year. We now look forward to 2023 in SC3, with a few new faces, and many of the same. May I wish you all a happy and safe holiday break, and look forward to seeing you all ready and raring for the start of the new school year.

A massive thank you again,

Jarrod

BROADCAST OF THE 2022 VICTORIAN STATE SCHOOL SPECTACULAR (VSSS)

If you are interested in watching Beth and Kahlan (along with 14 Buninyong students)perform at this year’s VSSS, tune in to channel 7 on December 17 starting at 7pm.  The show will also be streaming on 7plus (www.7plus.com.au) for the following 30 days.

We have already registered for VSSS in 2023, so Mrs Morgan will be looking for students interested in participating.  Watching the 2022 VSSS on TV might just help some students decide whether this is something they’d like to put their hand up for.
