Principal's Report

The School Year Drawing to a Close

We are now in the thick of the usual end of year tasks and events.  For this week, that includes Parent Teacher Interviews, Orientation Day, end of year excursions (pool days, trips to the movies, etc), the Meet Your Teacher Session, the Scotsburn Picnic Breakup and commencing the process of cleaning up classrooms.

And of course, next week we have Grade 6 Graduation on Monday evening and the whole school assembly on the following day.  Parents are more than welcome to attend the assembly on Tuesday morning.  As always, this will be a big event and will conclude with students forming a guard of honour for our grade 6s.

Don’t forget that students are invited to come along in free dress with a Christmas theme on the last day of school.

Orientation Day

Today we hosted our 2023 preps with an Orientation Day at both campuses.  The day was very successful and our new preps were very comfortable and settled.  Well done to our prep teachers who planned and ran the day and to a number of grade 6 students who helped out in various ways.  Thanks also to our grade 6 teaching team who looked after our current preps for the day.

Our grade 5 students did a fantastic job as buddies and are looking forward to continuing the connection with their new little friends in 2023.

It was great to have a large contingent of parents stay for an information session and then for some morning tea and a chat.  Thanks to the parents of our current preps who sent along food for the morning tea.  There was a great spread for everyone to share.

Transition Days for New Students

At this time during term 4 we have a number of new families preparing to join our school at the beginning of the following school year.  To help ease the transition into our school for these children, we offer a few transition days in the relevant year level to give them a chance to make a few friends and get to know their way around.  This enables these children to go into the summer break without feeling too anxious about starting at a new school.  We’ve already had quite a few students join us for transition days and have more to come later this week.

Meet Your Teacher Session

Students from the Buninyong Campus get the opportunity to meet their new teacher this Friday and spend 60 minutes with their class for 2023.  Most children will be excited about the change that comes with a new teacher and mixing with some new children.  Others might be disappointed with the prospect with not being with all of their friends.  If this is the case, help your child see the positives in the situation…they will still get to mix with whoever they like at break times and out of school and will get the opportunity to work with some different children in class.

Please encourage your child/ren to approach the Meet Your Teacher session with a positive mindset.  Our aim is for all students to enter these transition periods with the confidence they need to achieve success.  The attitude our children take to this will be shaped by trusted adults around them.

Lunchtime Live

This week was our final lunchtime live session for 2022.  It was a sunny day, and we were able to perform on the outside stage. Please see attached below some great photos.
