Japanese

Kaori Bawden

During week 8, the whole school initiated the indigenous Bedtime story therefore I attempted to introduce Japanese indigenous people 'Ainu' and Ainu culture in our lesson.

The Ainu culture is distinctive, with a language that is unrelated to Japanese, and a spirituality that holds that spirits dwell in every part of the natural world. Crafts such as wood carving and embroidery incorporate unique patterns. We created Ainu pattern with origami and coloured some animals which are significantly important to Ainu.

What a great design they have made in Japanese class. Absolutely amazing job everyone!

Thank you all for allowing me to teach Japanese at St. Joseph this year. I had absolutely great time with you. Wishing you all peace, love, and laughter in the New Year.

The last target word for this year is よいお年を!” Yoi Otoshio” mean Happy New Year!

You use this sentence until New year's Eve then use あけましておめでとう " Akemashite Omedetou" (also means Happy New Year) from New year!

See you all in 2023
