Put on the Armour of Light

“You know what time it is, how it is now the moment for you to wake from sleep. Let us then lay aside the works of darkness and put on the armour of light;

instead, put on the Lord Jesus Christ...” Romans 13: 11-13, 14

As we continue this journey of Advent, Paul reminds us to ‘put on the armour of light. ’What does this mean? This challenges us that at times our calling to follow Jesus is going to be difficult. At certain times in our lives, we are going to face opposition from those who don’t believe as we do. We are challenged not to ‘be asleep’ and to be ‘light’ for others. Jesus calls us to live in a deeper way of being. This leads us to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ to the world. To live the mission of Jesus, we are to reach out to those looking for forgiveness, encouragement and hope. We are called to be like Jesus in our mission to live a deeper way of being; becoming the hands and feet of Jesus Christ to the world. This Advent, let us be a beacon of light for all people who live in darkness. By reaching out to others in need, we are truly living out the lives we have been called to live.
