Message from the Chair of Council

Welcome to our 2022 Speech Day – a celebration of all that we have achieved this year at our wonderful school, and a time to give thanks.

Over a busy year, the school has seen some significant changes, including the introduction of anew uniform, incorporation, and a new focus from School Council on our environmental and social governance. Capital works have been revisited as the post-drought and pandemic financial situation have become clearer, with completion of the new Technology Centre for Metals &Engineering and the Junior School Glasshouse.Under consideration are two major projects for the Senior School, and a Windermere Farm Learning Facility. Announcements will be made incoming days relating to the Senior School projects. Renovation of the girls’ boarding houses as well as maintenance and upgrading of the wider school infrastructure is ongoing.

The Council itself has changed, with the resignations of Dr Paul Bloomfield after sixteen years, Mr Dan Blyde after six years, Ms Caroline Myers after four years, and Mrs Christine McIntosh after eleven years. Each has contributed very significantly to the school and we are indebted to them for their service.

Particular thanks must go to Mrs Christine McIntosh, my predecessor as Chair, for her skillful leadership, which provided a steady hand during the pandemic, successfully delivered the School’s incorporation, inspired the purchase of our farm at Windermere and contributed to the establishment of The Regional Engagement Enterprise.

I warmly welcome our newest Council appointees: Mrs Paras Meates, Reverend Alan Robinson, DrRadha Srikanth, Mrs Katrina Sweetapple and MrJock Whittle. They have already begun to make significant contributions to our governance, and I look forward to continuing to work with them for the benefit of this great school.

The School Council works very closely with the Principal, Dr Andrew Parry and Business Manager, Mr Trevor Delbridge, and we owe a debt of gratitude to them for their commitment and integrity as they lead the School.

My gratitude is also extended to the Parents and Friends Association, under the leadership of Mrs Sarah Glover, and the Boarder Parents Committee, under the leadership of Mrs Addy Nuthall. Both committees have added significantly to the life of the School this year.

A very special thank you must go to our staff, who work tirelessly to deliver excellence in every aspect of the education we offer.

Thank you to our students, who set an impressive example to each other and the community as they represent their families and Kinross Wolaroi School with distinction.

And finally, thank you to our families, who enable all of this through the commitment that they make, through both time and finance, in choosing this outstanding School for their children.

Best wishes for a festive season full of light and laughter for you and your family.

Rev. Andrew Cunningham
Chair of Kinross Wolaroi School Council
