Year 7 English

Recently our Year 7 English students have been decorating their Haiku poems on "Blueback", a book by author Tim Winton, which they have been studying this year.

Year 8 Geography

Year 8 Geography students have been investigating Megacities this term.

We are currently analysing the factors many megacities face in relation to issues such as access to transport and traffic congestion.

Maybe we’ll solve some of Melbourne’s traffic problems!

Year 7 Humanities

Our Year 7 Humanities students are learning about water in our world this term.

Recently, our learning included interpreting maps, graphs, and watching videos from across the world.

Our Humanities teacher Ms Haynes can be shown here demonstrating how much water in our world is fresh water in comparison to salt water.

Students were asked to imagine the litre jug of water as representative of all the water in the world, and medicine droppers then highlighted how scarce our accessible fresh water is!

It was a provocative learning experience for all.

Year 7 "2040" Film Excursion

On Friday our Year 7s were lucky enough to go to Village Cinemas in Fountain Gate to see the brand new documentary titled '2040'.

It tells the story of what the world might look like in the year 2040 and ways we can improve the world for the kids of today who will be the adults of the future.

Year 7 Health

In Year 7 Health we are currently looking at Youth Issues. Recently the Year 7s showed their collaboration and creativity skills by developing ways to reduce student stress with a 'Shark Tank' presentation.

Thank you for your participation, students, you had some excellent ideas!

Year 7 & 8 Girls Robotics

On Wednesday Jul 31st the Year 7 & 8 Girls Robotics group had an amazing time at Casey Tech. 🤖

They had the opportunity to code and operate a range of different robots including MBOTS, Edison robots, OZBots, Cuebots and the incredibly human like iPals.

They were also given the opportunity to build their very own MBOT and code it to perform challenges. This was the very first ‘girls only’ robotics group at Casey Tech and we couldn’t be happier that HPSC is promoting gender diversity in the fields of robotics and coding.

We look forward to offering this opportunity again for all interested students in the coming months.
