Student Engagement

What a big few weeks it has been or our students!

The House Leaders did a fantastic job at developing House pride across our school community and they are now busily preparing for the Battle of the Houses performing arts event in September with weekly meetings and organising auditions.

Additionally, this week the new students in the Le Mana program enjoyed getting to know each other and setting goals to begin working towards in different areas of their life including family, school, friends and personal goals.

Over the next 10 weeks these students will develop their knowledge of their culture and identity through a Pasifika lens, and work together to put on a community event to celebrate their hard work.

Backpack Challenge

Ms Long and Ms Singh are working hard to prepare a group of students for the 2019 World Vision Backpack Challenge, where students will stand in solidarity and show their support for refugee and asylum seekers by living as they would for 40 hours.

The students have developed some fantastic ideas to make this experience as real as possible. We look forward to supporting you along the way!

Recognising Positive Contributions

A few special mentions for students who have stepped up and gone above and beyond to support and contribute to our community:

  • Tyison Galway, for his respectful delivery of the Acknowledgement of Country at our Model UN conference.
  • Gericho Landicho Buenafe for his leadership of the Senor Boys Basketball Team
  • Maurice Roberts, Christian Dean, Jay Matavao and Lorna Va for their brilliant coaching of several Rugby teams, leading training and providing valuable feedback to players.
  • Hayley Hall and Ashley Belgica for their outstanding dance performance in the Values Assemblies.

4C's Update

4C’s rehearsals 3 times a week have paid off as we are now one week away from the event and it is looking fantastic.

Students have shown such a big commitment to the program, designing and creating their own costumes and putting in big hours, to ensure they look and perform at their best.

Hopefully you managed to snag a ticket because all 800 are officially sold out!

When: Tuesday 27th August

Student Voice in Curriculum

Students working alongside staff in developing the curriculum for 2020. Our Domain Leaders and various other students have put in their time to provide valuable feedback to staff on the new subject proposals.

Upcoming Opportunities

Now it is time for an update on some opportunities for HPSC students.

ACE Foundation Homework Support

The ACE Foundation is now offering Homework support. This will begin afterschool on Tuesdays and is free of charge. This will be including some afternoon tea for those participating. These sessions will be held every Tuesday, 1.30pm till 6pm at the ACE Foundation on Fordholm Road.

Outer Urban Projects

Another great opportunity is a new program for budding rap artists. Outer Urban Projects are going to run sessions from the HP library to work on writing lyrics and making music with a professional rapper. These sessions are free of cost, all you need to do is head down and sign in at the library.
