Chess Club

The focus of this month's clubs report is our Chess Club. Recently, the entire Coburg High School chess team entered the inter-school chess tournament hosted by local rivals, Brunswick Secondary College. We finished third overall, our best performance to date, and most importantly of all we had several first-time participants and many of our students recorded personal-best points tallies. A very special mention goes to Esther Patullo-Chapman (Silver Medalist - Year 9/10 division) and Jonah Day, (Bronze medalist - Year 7/8 division). Along with Owen Cashin (Yr 9) and Huon Rispoli (Yr 9), these students have now also qualified for the state finals to be held later in the year.

Coburg High School will be hosting our very own inter-school tournament in Term 3 (which will be on Tuesday, 30 July). We will have a strong home ground advantage and new players are welcome.
