Performing Arts

Performance Season
Term two has been a really busy and exciting time for the performing arts department so far, with more exciting events to come in the final two weeks. Our VCE Music, Dance and Drama classes, along with our Year 10 Dance class, all performed work over two exciting evening concerts in week 6. Throughout the evening students showcased and celebrated their technical development through a series of learnt works. They also performed work that was created by them, showing their development as young artists. In week 7, our Year 9 and 10 Music classes also hosted a concert of group and solo works.
A big congratulations to all involved, and a big thank you for all those who helped make those evenings a success. The Performing Arts department looks forward to seeing our students develop even further as performers throughout the year.

Performing Arts Excursions
Seeing and analysing live professional work can help to develop our students as performance critics, as well as inspire them to become more engaged in their own music making processes. This semester we have had exciting trips into the City and St Kilda to view work from The Melbourne Theatre Company, Sydney Dance Company and Theatre Works.
Upcoming Music Events
The Coburg High Instrumental Music Department will hold their semester one concerts in the last week of term, on Monday June 24 and Tuesday 25 June. Although both concerts start at 5.00pm and finish at 6.15pm in the performing arts space, that’s where the similarity ends. Each night a variety of student bands and ensembles will be performing a wide range of contemporary music from Queen and The White Stripes to Patti Smith and Coldplay. So it is possible to come to both concerts and have an entirely different experience each night!
Admission is $5 with all proceeds going towards the purchase of new sound equipment for the Music Department.
