Primary Performing Arts Day

The excitement was palpable on Wednesday when all of our Primary students gathered in the Chapel and Performing Arts Centre to celebrate all they had learnt in class this year. There were Music and Drama performances as well as some demonstrations. Fairview students were first up and got to show their work to Cumberland before the Cumberland students entertained those from Fairview. During the afternoon, a number of our Instrumental Music students also showcased what they have learnt in their private lessons in voice, guitar, strings, flute, piano and drums. Thank you to Ms Thomson, Mr Scandrett, Ms Leonard, Mr Barker and the Primary Classroom teachers for an amazing day of Performing Arts.

Instrumental Music Enrolments

Students who have been taking private instrumental lessons should have brought home an enrolment form for 2020 lessons by now. Many forms are rolling in and places are filling up. Please get the intention forms back in before the end of this year, so we can negotiate availability with the tutors. If you leave it until next year, we cannot guarantee a place as many of the tutors also work at other schools. If you have not received a form or are interested in signing your child up for lessons for the first time, additional forms are available from the school office or online through My Aitken.

2020 Middle School Play

Students will have seen advertising around for auditions for next year’s Middle School Play, 'The Jungle Book'. Involvement in this wonderful annual performance is a fantastic way for students in Year 7 to Year 9 to sink their teeth into a full-scale stage production. Auditions will take place in the middle of February with an information session held in the second week back next year. Already, Ms Jacquelyne Armstrong, the Director, is developing some wonderful ideas for staging this classic Rudyard Kipling story of Mowgli, an orphaned human boy who, guided by his animal guardians, sets out on a journey of self-discovery while evading the threatening Shere Kahn, the Bengal Tiger.
