Christmas Service
The Fairview Christmas Service was interactive and reflective for the children! The involvement from our entire community captured the true meaning of Christmas; sharing the wonderful blessings that the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ has on our community and lives. It was lovely to see a large number of parents and grandparents in attendance, and sharing this time with us all.
I take this time to thank Miss Jessica Healey for her beautifully dedicated Fairview Chapel services and the attendance of Mr Chris Ward and Rev. Jim Vaughn. The College is extremely blessed to have a wonderful Chaplaincy faculty, who are present at every Chapel Service and support the commitment of the Christian faith.
Christmas Reflection
During our Religion and Values Education lessons we focused on the meaning of Christmas, also that it is a time to reflect and thank God for our blessings. It is a time of forgiveness and learning to accept each other for our differences. Our reflection on Love, Joy, Hope and Peace has been focusing on our ability to focus on the Spirit of Christmas, and the children are happy to share their feelings. We have encouraged children to gain the true understanding of our Christ’s birth. Reminding them it is His birthday and not a time to focus on materials and demands, but on the true meaning of love. It is beneficial discussing with your children, the spirit of Christmas and the birth of our saviour, Jesus Christ.
Fairview Concert
The Fairview Concert was an engaging opportunity for Fairview students to showcase their creativity and love of the Performing Arts. Each child brings their own character and blessings to our school and their ability to love and laugh together as a family was evident during both concerts. The concert theme “World of Colour” provided a forum for the children to share their connections and passion of much loved children themed movies.
Each class worked as a team to contribute their talents and interest in forming a delightful story to share. The Performing Arts is a wonderful medium of expression and the opportunity to communicate without boundaries.
The children’s view of their world is innocent, perfect, full of fun and permitting free expression of emotion and movement. Their excitement in sharing their story is evident with beaming faces and joy to perform on stage.
We thank Mr Jevon Scandrett and Ms Beth Thomson for their amazing organisation, assistance and inspiration, the Fairview Homeroom teachers for their wonderful work and commitment; and the children for their enthusiasm and excitement. We also appreciate the support and assistance received from our technicians: Mr Daniel Pedersen and former students Miss Erin Stannard and Miss Natalie Tocci.
The concerts were very special nights for us all, our children achieved greatness. I completed my final Fairview Concert on Thursday and had the opportunity to share and thank the Fairview community for their love and support, as I take on a new role in 2020. I expressed how our community represents love, respect, kindness and loyalty and it has been a pleasure to be part of a beautiful community.
In my blog I uploaded group and class rehearsal photographs for parent viewing, a small sample is included in the newsletter.
A Beautiful Act of Kindness
In Fairview, we are extremely proud of Lucy D in Prep. Her wonderful gift and her family’s generosity to others is evident in their actions. Please read her story below and scroll through the photographs.
“I was growing my hair for Kids for Wigs. The hairdresser made pony tails and cut them. They will use my hair for wigs. It is for children who have no hair because they have cancer. It is really important that we help each other.”
A Rubik Cube
A rubik cube is a puzzle invented in 1974. I remember as a child spending hours playing with my rubik cube. Trying to solve the puzzle, creating frustrations and excitement, but also patience. It is wonderful to see our families reverting to some common toys and games to engage in problem solving, conversation and creating memories. Isaiah E in Year 2 was happy to share his Rubik story.
“When Ms Neophytou was a little girl she had a rubik. I love my rubik because it helps me solve problems and think differently. It is more fun than an iPad, it can make me laugh and feel happy. My family and I share the rubik.”
Primary Performing Arts Showcase
We have had wonderful weeks of showcasing the Performing Arts. On Wednesday 4 December, Fairview shared their talents and excitement with performances that were a culmination of their class work. We were very lucky to have an engaging Cumberland student audience. We had the opportunity to thank Mr Scandrett for his wonderful and creative work with Fariview and our host for the day, Ms Thomson.
Final Assembly
Our Final Assembly is scheduled on Friday 13 December at 9.00am in the Chapel and Performing Arts Centre. The children are required to wear their full Summer school uniform. The children are not to wear their sport uniform on the final day of school. We welcome our parents and grandparents to attend.
Please note we do not have a scheduled Chapel Service and Assembly on Monday 9 December due to Presentation Night.
