Meet the Teacher Night (2018)
Secondary School
Thank you to all the parents, students and families who came along to meet with teachers for 2018. It was excellent to note the near full house in the theatrette to learn more about NESA and Senior years in school. Thank you also to Mr Day for running this event.
Mr Reed and I built a stronger rapport on the BBQ cooking many snags for the sausage sizzle. Remember you are encouraged to make contact with teachers through emails, phone calls or by appointment through the office. It was another great time to get to know our families better. Thank you for supporting all of our events.

Primary School
Thank you to all the families who came out to meet the teachers at our Meet the Teacher Evening on Wednesday 2 February. It was great to see so many of you on this evening and it was wonderful catching up while enjoying a sausage sandwich and an ice cream. If you missed the evening, please make sure you have a copy of the teacher’s handout. If you haven’t got your letter yet detailing the class routines etc, please email your child’s teacher requesting a copy. We will have parent/teacher interviews at the end of this term, but remember you can organise an interview with your child’s teacher at any time either by emailing them directly or contacting admin. We look forward to all that the year has to offer and continuing the great relationship that exists between home and school as we partner together to provide our children with an excellent education.

Crazy Hair Day
Our Primary students late in 2017 had a special "Crazy Hair Day" to raise much needed funds for New Hope International who fund water wells (as well as many other things) in disadvantaged schools in Uganda.... and had a wonderful time while doing it ;)
Year 7 in 2018 Orientation Day
A great day of getting to know their new classmates and feel what it is going to be like in Year 7 for 2018.
Canteen Reminders...
Canteen opens at 8:40am when lunch orders can be placed over the counter or handed into the blue Canteen lunch bag in the classroom.
Change will be taped into the corner of the lunch order bag (so please don’t throw the bag away with out checking first).
If there is a frozen treat ordered we will put a big red circle around it to remind your child to eat their lunch and then come to the Canteen to pick it up.
Primary children can only purchase frozen treats at lunch time (NOT recess) and FIRST half of lunch. We found lots of frozen treats being wasted as the bell goes and the treat needs to be thrown away. Please remind your child to eat their lunch and before they start playing come straight to the Canteen if they would like something frozen, there will still be plenty of time to play in second half. If they arrive to pick up their frozen treat on their lunch order after the second half bell goes they will be given their money back instead of the treat.
PRIMARY side will close at 2pm so students have enough time to make it back to class without rushing or being late.
We offer fresh fruit for fruit break at 50 cents a piece for those days when the fruit basket at home is bare. It is advisable that your child purchases before school starts if possible (without being late for class), to avoid interrupting their class routine by running to the Canteen in fruit break.
Please remember the Canteen offers NO CREDIT. We will never allow a child who has forgotten their lunch to go hungry and arrangements can be made with the ladies in the front office if this does happen.
Only HIGH school can order hot food over the counter, although to avoid disappointment if we sell out, a lunch order is advisable. PRIMARY students MUST order hot food on a lunch order. ALL wraps, salads and sandwiches must be ordered on a lunch order.
If you have any questions please feel free to call in and see us or call us on 6539 0100.

Secondary Maths Club
In 2018 as part of the STEM faculty, students will be given the opportunity to participate in some trial mathematics programmes as part of the reSolve project (developed by the Australian Academy of Science) and/or Maths Inside project (developed by the CSIRO). Both these projects have been funded by the Federal Government.
How to help your child/ren with their maths work:
- Encourage them to complete homework
- Encourage them to show their thought processes (working out)
- Encourage them to work neatly, showing question and answer
- Encourage them to consistently make summary notes
- Use the summary notes to prepare the ‘reference sheet’ for Term Tests
- Talk to them about maths
- how do you use maths in your life
- talk about changing recipes
- talk about mixing petrol and oil for machinery
- search for patterns in phone numbers etc.
The STEM faculty run a ‘Maths Club’ on Monday afternoons from 3pm to 4pm in C1. Maths Club offers students the opportunity to have some 1-on-1 help with their classwork, have assistance with assessment tasks, revise a topic they may have found difficult or find out more about a particular mathematical concept.

Drop off and Pick-up of a morning and afternoon.
We have a large number of vehicles arriving at school of a morning for drop-off and again in the afternoon to pick-up our precious students. We take our duty of care very seriously and ask that you please be patient and drive very cautiously when entering and leaving the College car park. We do our very best to prevent any child running out onto the car park during these busy times, but ask that you too please be vigilant when driving through the carpark, driving slowly and keeping a watchful eye. We understand that it can get very congested and we do our best to create efficient drop-offs and pick-ups each day.
Also, just a reminder to always collect your child from the school side of the carpark. Please don’t ever ask them to run/walk across the carpark unless accompanied by an adult. It is fine to park on the church side of the car park provided you hop out of your car and collect your child/children.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter. We are just very serious about keeping all of our precious little ones safe.
Thank you also for the wonderful start to our new year.
We need more Coles vouchers for our volunteers to count!
Our wonderful volunteers just love coming in and counting all of these vouchers we are getting. Thank you so much for supporting our College! Let's keep them busy ;)
