Excursions

2017 Year 6 Barrington Excursion
What a great day these guys had!!! A great way to finish the year.
Year 11 Agriculture (2018)
Year 11 Agriculture students recently visited Ricardo's Tomatoes as part of their Farm Case Study unit. They participated in a tour of the production areas where they learnt all about the hydroponic growing methods used for both tomatoes and strawberries. There was an opportunity to pick strawberries and then a really great question time with Anthony, the owner.
2017 Year 9 & 10 Aboriginal Culture Excursion
In place of the Naidoc Celebrations, our Year 9 & 10 students traveled out to Breakneck Mountain. Our students found this to be most informative, learning more about the local Biripi culture.
2017 The Admin Team even had an excursion...
Here we are enjoying a lovely brekky for our final meeting of 2017. What a team and thanks to Cafe Thyme for a great feed!!!
2017 Year 9, 10 & 11 Visual Arts Students Experience Rembrandt and Immersive Video Art in Sydney
On the 22nd of November 2017 Stage 5 and 6 Visual Arts students headed down to Sydney to view and interact with two major international art exhibitions. At the Art Gallery of New South Wales, students were very privileged to be able to view a collection of Dutch Renaissance paintings, etchings and drawings in the "Rembrandt and the Dutch Golden Age" exhibition before going to see a retrospective exhibition of the work of Pipilotti Rist (one of the world’s most celebrated contemporary video artists) at the Museum of Contemporary Art. To help the students engage in a more purposeful way with the art works, they were briefed very well about the history of Dutch Renaissance art and contemporary video art practice by gallery staff before perusing the exhibits themselves. I think it appears to be unanimous that the Pixel Forest by Pipilotti Rist was one of the highlights experienced on the day.
A big thank you goes to the students for engaging so enthusiastically with all the exhibits, floor talks and workshops and to Mr Colville for driving all the way to Sydney and back in one day. It was a full day in so many ways, but a very inspiring one. I look forward to travelling to Sydney early next year with the same group to see the annual Art Express exhibition.

2017 Timbertown Excursion Year 4
Our two Year 4 classes set off on an excursion to Timbertown. What an awesome way to celebrate the first day of summer. The weather was perfect and all 51 students attended. Timbertown is a historical display village, situated in the town of Wauchope, in the beautiful Hastings Valley. The students were all very excited and we were blessed to have 11 parents accompany us on our big adventure. A gigantic thank you goes to the parents, who were willing to take time out of their busy lives to assist with supervision on the day.
The children participated in a wide range of educational activities, which included: panning for gold, a horse and cart ride around the town, a blacksmith demonstration, a visit to the woodworker’s guild, a ride on the Timbertown train, a bullock driver demonstrating his skills managing his team of bullocks, a visit to a working sawmill and a walk through the many huts and displays that took everyone back in time to an era where life was very different to the one we experience today.
The lolly shop was a highlight of course and there weren’t too many who could resist the delicious icecream flavours on offer. The children received high praise from the bullock driver, for their thoughtful questions and excellent behaviour during his demonstration. Everyone had an enjoyable time together and it was a great day out by all.
