From the Principal's office

Mr Coleman writes...

Greetings to all of our College families and a particularly warm welcome to those who have just joined us this year.

We have had a number of events so far, including our Primary and Secondary Swimming Carnivals. These were, as always, well attended with a wonderful atmosphere of cheering one another on. I attended also the Primary Zone Swimming Carnival and again all of our students competed enthusiastically and congratulations to those heading off to State. Thank you to the parents who helped on the day. Our Agriculture students have been preparing cattle for the upcoming Nabiac, Wingham, Gloucester, and Kempsey Shows and well as Wingham Beef Week and we wish them well in this. We inducted our new student leaders earlier in the term and we encourage them to be good examples of godly leadership.

Before students returned, staff were busy preparing for the new school year. During our professional development week, staff participated in workshops about CPR, asthma, child protection, IT, Christian education and the work of Eternity Aid. All teachers must complete mandatory professional learning hours as part of their maintenance of accreditation.

Our Library has undergone some changes and is now known as the ISC (Information Services Centre). Mrs Tindall, Primary Coordinator, has been very busy with Mrs Archinal rearranging furniture, creating new learning spaces and implementing some very fun and engaging activities.

To support and extend our high-potential learners, we have implemented an extension Mathematics class in Stage 3 taught by Mrs Duffy. I have visited the class and seen the students pondering tricky and challenging questions!

Last year our College participated in an online trial of the NAPLAN tests. As a result, we are one of a small number of schools that will undertake the tests online this year. Mr Day, Mrs Tindall and Mr Boshoff are overseeing this. We found the online trial last year to be very easy and the students enjoyed working through the questions on the screen.

I wish all of our students a wonderful year of learning about God and His world.
