INTER-HOUSE SWIMMING CARNIVAL:

 

Friday 30th November @ MSAC

We are just one week away now from our annual St. Finbar’s Swimming Carnival.  It’s been pleasing to see the number of events that our Senior school students have entered into for the day - lots of heats!

 

Senior carnival (Year 3-6):  Event selection: next Tuesday all class teachers will allow students to view their selected events (& jot them down to take home).  Please see the schedule below for an approximate time schedule of events.

 

Junior carnival (P-2):  All students are reminded to read over with their parents all required items on the Care Monkey email regarding the Swimming carnival.  Class levels have been placed in boy/girl heats for 25m freestyle, 25m backstroke & a House ‘novelty’ relay.   Two staff will be in the water with the swimmers with flotation devices in hand for any assistance/support required.  The floor of the pool is raised so they swim safely in a depth of 70cm. No dive entries are allowed for any swimmer.  Races begin: 10.15am. Junior carnival finishes: 12.30pm.

 

REMINDERS FOR ALL STUDENTS:​

  • House swim caps are compulsory.  If a replacement is required, they are now available from the office for $5.
  • Wear bathers under their full sports uniform, with runners.
  • Bring in their SCHOOL BAG:
  • 2-3 towels, spare warm jumper, googles (highly recommended), spare bag for wet items, full water bottle, sunscreen (pre-applied & also in school bag), school hat, all food for the day (lots of snacks & lunch), thongs (to be worn only at the pool whilst attending the change rooms & toilets).
  • Optional (but encouraged): House coloured t-shirt, zinc, pom-poms, House support signs.

PARENT HELPERS:

Many thanks to all parents that have been able to offer their support on the day.Please ASSUME you will be rostered on at your nominated time.

All helpers will be emailed by Tuesday afternoon next week, with full details.Many thanks for your anticipated support.

SPECTATOR/HELPER MSAC PARKING OPTIONS: Mulit-level car parks, outside MSAC/Lakeside car parking is available ($10-14), park in a neighbouring street (Wright Street, Albert Park, or nearby with no parking restrictions) & walk across Canterbury Rd, under the light-rail underpass & through to MSAC outdoor pool.

Senior Carnival (Year 3-6) Event Schedule - approximate:

10am: Freestyle events

11am: Kickboard/Noodle event (non-swimmers)

11.10am: Butterfly events

11.30am: Breaststroke events

12.10pm: Backstroke events

12.50pm: Yr.6 Novelty race

1.10pm: 100m IM

1.25pm: 25m Freestyle House relays

2-2.30pm: Yr.6 Water Polo games, Yr 3-5 pool free-time & Water polo viewing

 

Junior Carnival (Year P-2) Event Schedule - approximate:

10am: Freestyle (Year 2, Year 1, then Prep heats)

10.45am: Backstroke (Year 2, Year 1, then Prep heats)

11.45am: Novelty relays (Year 2, Preps, then Year 1 relays)

12.10 – 12.30pm: all classes to move to change rooms to change out of bathers

12.40pm: Depart MSAC on buses

PLEASE RETURN ALL BORROWED SPORTS SINGLETS 

Please check your children’s wardrobes and drawers for any final returns of our St. Finbar’s Sports singlets.  All borrowed singlets must be returned to the office.  Thank you.
