Did you know we have a Building Fund?

Thank you to those families who have already made donations to the Ormond Primary School Building Fund as a part of the 2015 Contributions.

We are aiming to raise $35,000 through donations to the Building Fund which will be put towards the painting of the Junior School building, the Hall and the Portable Classroom wing.

Tax deductible donations for any families wishing to make a donation are still welcome.

Please note that any Building Fund Donations must be paid in cash or a Cheque made out to 'Ormond Primary School Building Fund'.

If you have any questions, please contact Jan or Brodie in the office on 9578 1327.

Healthy Eating Policy

In line with Ormond Primary’s 'Healthy Food' Policy and “Snack Smart” program, parents are to ensure that students lunches, snacks and any class treats do not contain nuts or traces of nuts as we have multiple students in the school with severe Anaphylaxis to all nut types.

Fundraiser chocolates or the like for outside organisations are not to be bought to or sold whilst at school.

Please refer to our website for Ormond Primary School Policies

Library News

Scholastic Book Catalogues have been sent home this week, a good chance to do some early Christmas Shopping.  (I will hold any orders if requested for collection).

Orders can be completed using the LOOP system on the Scholastic web site which is very easy to use and I encourage everyone to use it as it is a much easier way of tracking orders.. If you are unable to access the site payments can still be made by cheque - making sure that any cheques are made out to Scholastic Australia NOT Ormond Primary School. Any cash or credit card slips must be in an labelled envelope with your child’s name, grade and scholastic order sheet. All orders and money must be completed by Friday 16th October.

iPAD Program

Beginning next term the students in Year 4 will be invited to take part in an iDevice program called iDay. Each Thursday of Term 4, beginning on Thursday 15th October, students will be permitted to bring an iPad into class for the purpose of integrating technology into their learning.

Beginning Term 1 of 2016, as Year 5 students they will participate in a 1:1 Bring Your Own Device iPad program. This will allow them to bring in their iPad every day of the school week to be utilised as a tool to enhance their learning.  Please read the Frequently Asked Questions attached for more information.

This program aims to further extend the powerful learning that has been taking place at Ormond Primary through the integration of technology. By providing an opportunity for students to bring in their own iPad they will have the opportunity to expand the depths of their learning in a highly engaging and self-motivating manner.

For more information please attend the parent information session held on Wednesday 7th October at 6:15pm to 7:00pm in the LCR (Year 5/6 Area).

Should you require further information to answer any questions you have, visit the OPS 1:1 iPad Program website at http://ops1to1ipad.global2.vic.edu.au

For any queries regarding this program please contact the Year 4 teachers or Mr Abell.
